Victory for the Forgotten Man

Victory for the Forgotten Man
Chapter 2: the Celebrity Apprentice wins
Conspiracy Theorist
By Mark Luedtke
Publication date: 112216

In the wake of Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential election, mainstream commentators galore have rediscovered the term “forgotten man,” but many may be confused about what it means because, as Wikipedia documents, “It was first used by William Graham Sumner in his article The Forgotten Man (published posthumous in 1918) to refer to the person compelled to pay for reformist programs; however, since Franklin Roosevelt appropriated the phrase in a 1932 speech, it has more often been used to refer to those at the bottom of the economic government whom the state (in Roosevelt's view and in the general social humanitarian approach) needed to help.”
Another example of progressives turning words upside-down for their own benefit.
The original definition applies to Trump’s victory. The forgotten man is not a silent majority, not even a majority. Clinton won the popular vote.
You shouldn’t believe anything the media tells you before elections, after elections, or between elections. The media never mentions Clinton was a terrible candidate or the role Trump’s celebrity and demagoguery played in his victory. Get ready for angry candidate George Clooney in 2020.
Sure, Trump brought voters out who never voted before, but that happens every four years. Polls were wrong, but not by much.
Most polls had Hillary Clinton slightly ahead but within the margin of error. The RealClearPolitics poll average had Clinton ahead by about 0.5 percent. She won by 0.3 percent. That’s spot on.
The only real surprise this election was Trump won all the battleground states and more. But those state polls varied wildly, nakedly reflecting the bias of the pollsters. That’s not much of a surprise either. Like historians, pollsters try to influence the present, not publish accurate information. They’re human. They advance their own self-interest.
Clinton was supposedly shocked at the outcome. I doubt that. Internal polling in both campaigns seemed accurate. Clinton knew she was in trouble in the battleground states so she sent her best proxies including President Obama into all of them the last weekend. Trump went to Wisconsin and Pennsylvania knowing he could win those states despite their history of going blue.
Now rulers tell us Trump’s victory is a revolution. Straight from his tanning bed, former Speaker John Boehner quoted Thomas Jefferson, “... a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical.”
I’m skeptical. I was never a Trump fan. Don’t get me wrong, I’m ecstatic one of America’s premier serial mass murderers was denied the presidency. Hundreds of thousands of lives - maybe untold millions if she had provoked a nuclear war with Russia as her aggression was leading us - were saved by preventing Clinton from directly controlling the military. But every billionaire is a ruler.
Still, as with Brexit, this was a victory for the forgotten man, waking up to resist exploitation. And we learned this election, the forgotten man is not defined by race. Trump won more votes from blacks and Hispanics than Mitt Romney by presenting his anti-establishment case. America’s division is between those who suffer and benefit from government stealing.
Trump’s victory proves a core of Americans still understand liberty and free enterprise, not government, makes America great, secure, and prosperous. America is not defined yet by race or handouts. Progressive rule by both parties has beaten, bruised, and battered the American dream, but it hasn’t killed it.
But people who believe Trump will turn things around will be disappointed. The impending economic crash still looms. Trump can’t unprint the money the Federal Reserve printed. He can’t make unprecedented debt disappear. The best he can do is allow the crash to run its course without coercive intervention, allowing the people to heal the damage in a deep, painful, but short recession.
But unlike Presidents Harding and Reagan, Trump’s ego won’t allow a crisis to run its course. Worse, NBC News reports, “But despite Donald Trump's campaign pledge to ‘drain the swamp’ in Washington and his outsider campaign, many of [his cabinet picks] are clear Washington insiders.”
Lacking insider experience, the apprentice made a deal to gain the support of establishment leaders, warmongers all, and he’s paying them off. That’s why Boehner, Speaker Paul Ryan and even Obama suddenly treat him with respect. The establishment is already co-opting his presidency.
While Trump will never be as bad as Clinton - or another Bush - his deals with devils will harm us all. The forgotten man will remain exploited.

Happy Anniversary to the War on Drugs

Happy Anniversary to the War on Drugs
Conspiracy Theorist

publication date: 010615

Understanding the power to tax is the power to destroy, on December 17, 1914, Congress passed the Harrison Narcotics Tax Act, making the War on Drugs 100 years old. So much for Afghanistan being the longest, most wasteful war in US history.
While some think the War on Drugs was born out of a moral and health crusade, nothing could be further from the truth. Economist and War on Drugs expert Mark Thornton writes, “As written, the Harrison Narcotics Act of 1914 was legislation that established a tax and registration requirement on narcotics and cocaine. Politicians and journalists openly targeted Chinese immigrants, Southern blacks, and Mexicans with outrageous propaganda.”
He continues, “What history does reveal is that the initial legislation that became the War of Drugs was clearly the result of bigotry and the desire to suppress minorities, and the desire to become a big player in world diplomatic affairs, not a desire to help drug addicts.”
While progressives pretend not to support it, the War on Drugs was part of the progressive agenda pushed through at that time which included the income tax, the Federal Reserve, popular election of Senators, war and empire. That agenda is destroying America and the western world today.
Wikipedia expounds, “The drafters played on fears of ‘drug-crazed, sex-mad negroes’ and made references to Negroes under the influence of drugs murdering whites, degenerate Mexicans smoking marijuana, and ‘Chinamen’ seducing white women with drugs.”
It continues, “Before the Act was passed, on February 8, 1914, The New York Times published an article entitled ‘Negro Cocaine 'Fiends' Are New Southern Menace: Murder and Insanity Increasing Among Lower-Class Blacks’ by Edward Huntington Williams, which reported that Southern sheriffs had increased the caliber of their weapons from .32 to .38 to bring down Negroes under the effect of cocaine.
“Despite the extreme racialization of the issue that took place in the buildup to the Act's passage, the contemporary research on the subject indicated that black Americans were in fact using cocaine and opium at much lower rates than white Americans.”
There was no need for a war on opium when the only people addicted to it were white Civil War veterans whom government had addicted to morphine as a painkiller during the war. There was no need for a war on cocaine when Sears and Roebuck sold cocaine and a syringe to administer it to white people through its catalog. America’s rulers had to resort to demonizing minorities to push through this abomination, and as with so many others, only succeeded as Congressmen were rushing out of Washington for Christmas break.
One hundred years later, the War on Drugs is still a tool for oppressing minorities and the government is still the major cause of addiction. The only things that have changed are the ferocity with which government attacks Americans, the amount of money it steals and the number of casualties.
The government singling out crack cocaine because it’s more popular with blacks parallels the lying New York Times story referenced by Wikipedia. Records show almost all federal prosecutions for crack are of blacks.
Even though a higher percentage of white people use most drugs except crack, blacks are arrested at three times the rate because white juries more readily convict blacks. It’s this blatant preying upon blacks that creates the tension that leads to riots in cities like Ferguson, Missouri.
While attacking Americans at home, the US oversees the production of the greatest amount of heroin in history in Afghanistan. The Taliban had eradicated opium production in Afghanistan, but because illegal drugs are sold in narco-dollars, that weakened the dollar in international trade. That’s why when the US invaded Afghanistan, it promoted new production of opium, and it promotes it today. It’s not an accident of war. It’s by design.
In the meantime, heroin deaths have become such an epidemic in the region, and the world, Dayton police are carrying Narcan to save people from heroin overdoses. The Dayton Daily News reports, “Officers have said due to heroin’s widespread use, Narcan has become vital to saving the lives of overdose patients. ‘I’ve found them in vacant houses, bathrooms of service stations, sidewalks, I mean just everywhere,’ said Officer Willie Hooper. Hooper adds he’s revived four overdose patients since September through the use of Narcan.”
Law Enforcement Against Prohibition advocates, “We believe that drug prohibition is the true cause of much of the social and personal damage that has historically been attributed to drug use. It is prohibition that makes these drugs so valuable –  while giving criminals a monopoly over their supply. Driven by the huge profits from this monopoly, criminal gangs bribe and kill each other, law enforcers, and children.”
When alcohol prohibition ended, people stopped killing each other over alcohol. People gave up deadly pure grain alcohol for beer and wine. Once decriminalized, the same will happen for all drugs.
It’s ironic that the people who have become the champions of the century-old progressive agenda call themselves conservatives. Supporting liberty, not the status quo, is the key to saving our country.

Progressive Bullies

Progressive Bullies
Violence is at the core of leftist ideology
Conspiracy Theorist
By Mark Luedtke
Publication date: 111516

Leftists have raised bullying to an art form. They’ve managed to make themselves look like victims while they bully. With their Uggs they trampled into dust the wise old saying that sticks and stones can break your bones but words can never hurt you.
Progressives have turned free speech upside-down. In the 1960s they wanted universities to be free speech zones. Fifty years later they demand so-called safe spaces where free speech is not allowed. Progressive bullies made themselves the gatekeepers of all speech.
It started with political correctness. Those of us who criticized political correctness for decades as antithetical to free speech were poo-pooed. We were told political correctness isn’t dangerous. It is. Of political correctness following its logical course at a University of Missouri protest last year, New York Magazine described, “At the protest on Missouri’s campus yesterday, on a space that is expressly open to free expression, protesters barred journalists from covering the demonstrations. In one scene, protesters surrounded and harassed Tim Tai, a photographer with the student newspaper, chanting, ‘Hey, hey, ho, ho, journalists have got to go.’ The scene is captured on a video here, which rewards close watching until the end, where Melissa Click, a professor of mass media working with the protest movement, calls out, ‘Help me get this reporter out of here. I need some muscle over here.’”
That’s leftist strategy stripped down to its core: begin with aggression, advance to threats, then escalate to violence.
Leftist philosophy is a philosophy of barbarism. We see it all the time. Bullies regularly commit violence at protests. Protests with minimal violence are considered peaceful. Minimal violence is not peaceful. Progressives recently trashed the floor of the House of Representatives, temporarily shutting it down. They smashed Trump campaign sites and vandalized his hotel then blamed it on him. Thomas DiLorenzo noted, “The media are happy to highlight the violence as the story of the day instead of whatever Trump said during his speech. Censorship of opposing viewpoints is always the Number One Goal of the Marxist Left (or any other kind of Left).”
Progressives forced gays into a political closet. “So will gay Republicans be wearing Trump 2016 t-shirts and ‘Make America Great Again’ hats at LGBTQ Pride events this year? [A gay marine] said it's unlikely,” reported NBC News. “‘It's easy to come out of the closet,’ he said. ‘It's dangerous to come out as a Trump supporter.’”
Progressive bullies are hurting businesses and workers too. Many tech companies are hiring based on diversity instead of merit. GitHub suffers an extreme case of progressive bullying. “‘It is very hard to even interview people who are “white,”’ claimed an anonymous GitHub employee speaking to Tech Insider,” reported Breitbart. “It’s a claim that seems shocking but should come as no surprise considering [GitHub’s diversity consultant] Sanchez’s previous outspoken statements on diversity.”
Twentieth Century Fox was bullied into apologizing for an X-Men: Apocalypse poster of Apocalypse, a man and bad guy, strangling Mystic, a woman and good gal, because the bullies claimed it condoned violence against women. Fox should have ridiculed the claim instead of kowtowing and pulling the posters, costing investors money.
Progressivism is always and everywhere a philosophy of violence. It can’t be anything else because progressives want people to behave differently so they use coercion and violence to force them. Progressivism is the philosophy behind the mass murder of well over a hundred million people last century, but progressives call themselves tolerant.
Lew Rockwell comments on the unique evil of the left. “But when we compare even the worst enormities of the more distant past with the leftist totalitarian revolutions and total wars of the twentieth centuries, they are in general a mere blip. The entire history of the Inquisition, said Joe Sobran, barely rises to the level of what the communists accomplished on a good afternoon,” he writes. “Given that the left has sought the complete transformation of society, and given that such wholesale change is bound to come up against the resistance of ordinary people who don’t care for having their routines and patterns of life overturned, we should not be surprised that the instrument of mass terror has been the weapon of choice. The people must be terrified into submission, and so broken and demoralized that resistance comes to seem impossible.”
From riots to show trials to guillotines to gas chambers to gulags to death trains to mass starvation, progressives terrorize and murder en masse. Yet people still vote for them.

Downtown Dayton Housing Insanity

Downtown Dayton Housing Insanity
Conspiracy Theorist
by Mark Luedtke
publication date: 122314

With apologies to The Who: Meet the new housing bubble. Same as the old housing bubble, but worse. In September, 2013, the most expensive home in Manhattan cost $130 million. By May, 2014, somebody paid $147 million for a New York mansion. Similar bubbles are expanding from London to Australia. Prices for housing for the rich have skyrocketed around the world.
Dayton hasn’t escaped the insanity. The Dayton Daily News reports, “Charlie Simms, president of Charles Simms Development, said his company is negotiating to purchase a parking lot on the southeast corner of Sears and Second streets to make room for the new townhouses near the Second Street Market. The development, which if built according to current plans, will feature 22-townhomes that will be sold for between $180,000 and $210,000, Simms said.”
Simms’s company developed three other downtown residential developments at Patterson Square, Rubicon Square and Patterson Place.
You don’t have to be an economist to recognize something is grossly wrong here. Not two blocks west from two of Simms’s developments, half of downtown Dayton real estate sits empty. Retail fronts are empty. Except on show nights, after 5:00pm, the city looks like a graveyard. The entire region is overbuilt. Taxpayers in Miami County have been forced to pay for the destruction of 80 properties since 2009.  Yet Simms is making money building expensive, new housing. This begs the question of how.
The DDN continues, “Simms told the Dayton Daily News in August that there remained a strong demand for urban living and that could result in the remaining townhomes and condos from his Rubicon Square and Patterson Place developments to be sold out by late this year or early 2015.”
Rubicon Square, completed a year and half ago by Miami Valley Hospital, hasn’t sold out, so demand cannot be as strong as Simms would have us believe.
Clearly market forces are not behind the development of housing downtown by Simms or at the Water Street development.  What Simms calls demand isn’t real demand. It isn’t market-driven. It’s bubble-money demand, and these projects are being supplied by bubble-money too. Blame the Federal Reserve (Fed) for this distortion of markets. Dayton is experiencing a textbook example of a housing bubble, the same as the rest of the world. As every central bank in the world legally counterfeits money in lockstep, bubbles are being blown worldwide, including this housing bubble in Dayton. The same is happening in the entire region.
Because the Fed is holding interest rates at zero, projects that wouldn’t be profitable in an honest market - one with real interest rates - appear profitable while the interest rates are held artificially low. This allows Simms and other political cronies to borrow money at zero interest and divert capital - building materials and labor - away from productive projects to fund their wealth-destroying projects.
The Austrian School of Economics calls this malinvestment. The result of these projects is the waste of resources that doesn’t become apparent until the bust hits. When the bust hits, the malinvestments become apparent: the empty, decrepit factories, shopping centers, retail spaces, houses and other decrepit properties we see everywhere in Dayton. Dayton is littered with the malinvestments of the past.  Simms and others building housing downtown are creating malinvestments of the present, soon to be exposed.
Local rulers make the problem worse with subsidies because it’s still hard for many developers to get loans. The DDN explains, “Instead, developers have to package tax credits, grants and loans, a process that is time consuming. Which is where the city and/or Citywide can step in.” Citywide is funded in part by the city.
Our rulers are stealing our money to fund malinvestment by their cronies, making them richer, us poorer and saddling the city with new, soon-to-be decrepit, underutilized and abandoned buildings like the eyesore parking garage on the river by Riverscape. They’re not only stealing our money. They’re stealing resources from us that, if we had a free market, would be employed to benefit everybody.
Our rulers make every day Christmas for their rich cronies. Dayton Mayor Whaley said of Simms, “Charlie was the first one in. They’ve been successful in that model, so we want to continue that model.” In other words, more subsidies for her good crony Simms.
But even the good times for the rich must end. Eventually interest rates rise and malinvestments become exposed. While still keeping interest rates at zero, the Fed recently ended its unprecedented Quantitative Easing (QE) program in which it counterfeited up to $85 billion a month. Former Reagan budget director David Stockman warns low oil prices are on the verge of exposing malinvestments made in the fracking business, popping a bubble he believes to be bigger than the housing bubble.
The regular rich are about to get slammed the way poor and middle class people already have been. Politicians and plutocrats will own pretty much everything in our new feudal society. If you think wealth disparity is bad now, wait until government’s institutionalized thieves steal everything.

Beware the Clowns

Beware the Clowns
The global warming clowns, that is
Conspiracy Theorist
By Mark Luedtke
Publication date: 11/01/16

Around the country, people are in a panic because of clown sightings. In one example The Cincinnati Enquirer reports, “Erlanger-Elsmere Schools were in ‘safe and secure’ mode Oct. 6 after police notified the district they had received a report of a clown sighting in Elsmere.” Safe and secure mode is a euphemism for lockdown. Some rulers figured out using the prison term lockdown offered too much insight into the true nature of government prison-schools, so they changed it. In the self-professed home of the brave, people panic when they see clowns even though, to the best of my knowledge, no clown has hurt anybody during the scare.
Two of the biggest clowns are racing around the country campaigning for president. Both should be forced to wear white face paint, rubber ball noses and floppy shoes. Then Americans might recognize the truth of our political system. Donald Trump is more of a goofy clown you can’t help but laugh at. Hillary Clinton is a murderous clown who has killed and maimed more people than all people dressed as clowns in history and movies combined.
Speaking of the presidential campaign, global warming clowns are gnashing their teeth because global warming is not an issue. Despite el Nino temporarily boosting the planet’s temperature to supposedly record levels for the last year, a recent Vox politics poll discovered the American people are more afraid of clowns than climate change.
To be fair, they also found Americans more scared of clowns than terrorists. This shows the power our rulers and their media propagandists have over public opinion. Hopefully fear-mongering about terrorism has reached its limit.
But rulers and their media propagandists have used the same tactics they used to incite fear of clowns to incite fear of global warming for decades. But despite billions spent promoting the great global warming fraud every year, they can’t scare the American people as much as a few unsubstantiated clown sightings. Hopefully the global warming scare has reached its limit too.
On a side note, the number one fear of Americans polled was government corruption. This reduces the effectiveness of fearmongering about global warming and terrorism.
The old saying the truth is the best defense applies more to the global warming fraud than to the justice system. After having some success in scaring Americans nearly two decades ago, the people have realized that natural variations in climate are not scary no matter how much rulers blame productive activity which generates carbon dioxide. Severe weather, not climate, is scary.
But the global warming clowns keep trying. Realclimatescience.com reports, “Texas has been cooling since 1895, but that doesn’t suit NOAA’s [National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration] global warming agenda. So they keep cooling the past further and further to create the appearance of a warming trend.”
NOAA’s corruption of the temperature record is so pervasive, always making the past appear cooler than it really was, it seems a week doesn’t go by without another discovery of corrupted historical data. We might think corrupt scientists should be fired, but that’s because we live in the productive world. Because NOAA’s corrupt scientists work for coercive government, none get fired and the most corrupt get promoted.
In a related story, The Telegraph reports, “Dire predictions that the Arctic would be devoid of sea ice by September this year have proven to be unfounded after latest satellite images showed there is far more now than in 2012.”
The frauds were wrong again. Once el Nino ended, Arctic sea ice extent vigorously rebounded as honest scientists expected. Only coercive governments employ, directly or indirectly, supposed experts who are consistently wrong.
But rulers keep jacking up the price we pay for this fraud. Charles Burris exposes, “Most persons in the US have never heard of the Spanish renewable energy and engineering giant Abengoa. That’s exactly how the DC cronyists and mainstream media like it. But the Abengoa bankruptcy scandal may erupt to be the October Surprise of 2016. It’s 100X as large as Solyndra. Abengoa was the for profit arm of the Clinton Climate agenda. Check out the major players from the Rockefeller Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, The Brookings Institute, HUD, Fannie Mae, NSA, CIA veterans, etc. They were bankrupt in 2009 but hid it for 7 years playing games and looting banks and shareholders since.”
US taxpayers lost tens of billions in this fraud, but voters keep empowering the same corrupt clowns in the same corrupt system election after election.

White Victims Matter Too

White Victims Matter Too
Conspiracy Theorist
by Mark Luedtke
publication date: 121614

On January 18, 2014, a Fairfield, Ohio cop killed a young, unarmed man named Caleb Surface. Nobody protested. Nobody rioted. No media or political agitators flew to Fairfield to instigate trouble. Nobody cared because Surface was white, not black.
That’s the norm. Fewer than one in four people killed by police are black, but you’d never know it by reading a newspaper, watching the news or listening to an agitator or politician. That’s because our rulers would lose everything if white people woke up and recognized they were in as much danger of being killed by police as blacks. As long as white people can be convinced only blacks have to worry about being killed by unaccountable, corrupt, socialist police, our rulers’ system of theft and violence is secure.
There’s an old saying that if they get you asking the wrong questions, they don’t have to worry about answers. Divide and conquer is the motive behind the lie that cops only target blacks. As long as people buy that lie, nobody has to answer why we allow cops target everybody.
The Dayton Daily News recently published an example of this propaganda masquerading as news. The story begins with what should be terrifying news for everybody: “The number of people killed by police has increased by a third in recent years, even as violent crime has trended downward and the number of officers assaulted or killed in the line of duty has dropped.”
So much for the claim that police are killing people to protect themselves. The spread of legalized concealed carry has reduced violent crime significantly, but cops are killing more people than ever. Note that this official number published by the FBI is known to be a gross undercount because police are not required to report people they kill to the FBI.
But the rest of the article is about cops killing black people, not cops killing everybody and hiding the statistics. The headline even reads: “Race a Factor in Police Shootings”. The DDN ignores the white victims because our rulers, whom The DDN serves - it’s owned by Cox Media, one of government’s corporate agents - don’t want white people to be scared. They want to divide blacks and whites and fool both into believing only blacks are at risk.
And they’ve been horrifically successful. Race agitators like Al Sharpton are establishment tools. They and anybody who falls for this propaganda are helping cops get away with murder.
Will Grigg quotes the investigating officer in Ferguson as he explains how the system is designed to enable cops to get away with murder: “‘Any time I’m involved in an officer-involved shooting, be it a fatal one or non-fatal, it is always during my initial investigation listed as an assault on law enforcement,’ explained the St. Louis County Police Detective who inaugurated the investigation of the Michael Brown shooting. ‘Officer Wilson … was the victim of the assault we were investigating.’”
Notice he doesn’t mention race. By design, the system switches the victim and the assailant, blaming the real victim who is dead and can’t refute lies told about him by his killer. The immediate corruption of the crime scene and the grand jury was well documented in Ferguson, but it happens everywhere. When investigating police shootings, all cops follow this same, corrupt model regardless of the race, gender, age or anything else of the victim. With the government investigating itself, the result can only be corrupt.
The problem isn’t race. It’s the job of coercive government enforcer attracts psychopaths and trains cops to be psychopaths. The recent epidemic of cops killing people carrying toy weapons proves this point. John Crawford III was shot dead in Walmart in Beavercreek while talking on the phone and holding a toy rifle. Darrien Hunt was shot dead by Utah police while carrying a toy sword like you would find at a carnival. Thirteen-year-old Andy Lopez was shot dead by Sonoma County sheriff's deputies for carrying a replica AK-47. A twelve-year-old boy was shot dead by a Cleveland police officer for carrying a toy pistol.
A common thread in all these shootings, besides the toys, is the victims didn’t threaten the police, yet the police killed them anyway. Another common thread is the cops all say they followed their training. That means they’re being systematically trained to kill non-threatening people carrying toy guns.
Cops are taught in training class if they take the time to determine if a gun is real or not, they could be killed, so they are taught to shoot first, cover up the evidence, and the corrupt system will protect them. They are taught because one time out of a thousand, the gun might be real and the person carrying it might shoot at them, they should kill everybody they encounter carrying a weapon or toy. That’s psychopathic behavior. There’s no empathy.
We pay for psychopathic training and for them to kill us because our rulers divide and conquer us. In order to stop police killings, white victims have to matter as much as black victims.

Tribune Content Agency Submission

Tribune Content Agency Submission                @Mark Luedtke

To Tribune Content Agency submissions editor:

My name is Mark Luedtke, and for four years I have written a weekly column in the Dayton City Paper titled Conspiracy Theorist. Paul Noah, the publisher of the DCP, believes Conspiracy Theorist is the most widely read column in the paper. It is by far the most commented-on column. In the nine years I’ve written columns, features and covers for the DCP, I have never missed a deadline.

With only six percent of Americans trusting the mainstream media, my articles are more valuable than ever because they are unlike anything in the mainstream media. I focus on economics and politics from a libertarian populist viewpoint, not the superficial divide between left and right. Gallup reports only 19 percent of the American people trust the government in Washington. Writers targeting that divide engage only those 19 percent. My subject matter engages people of all ages and from all walks of life because I write about the growing economic and political gulf between America’s rulers and the people. I explain complex issues in terms everybody can understand, and I challenge conventional dogma with a brash and concise style designed to entertain and make people think.

While the Internet is a factor in the decline of newspapers, poor content is the bigger problem. In contrast, my articles have helped the DCP grow. Because my articles resonate with common people, whether they agree or disagree, they will boost the number of readers for any newspaper. They are edited by a professional editor before submission, and I am flexible on word count, scheduling and other considerations.

Please consider syndicating my articles. All articles have been published by the Dayton City Paper and can be found at http://www.daytoncitypaper.com/author/mark-luedtke/

Bankers Gone Wild
The downward spiral from ZIRP to NIRP
Conspiracy Theorist
by Mark Luedtke
publication date: 031516

After nearly a decade of ZIRP [zero interest rate policy], Janet Yellon’s Federal Reserve [Fed] is considering NIRP [negative interest rate policy]. This literal downward spiral orchestrated by our rulers is the major cause of the world economy’s downward spiral.
Interest rates are a price like any other. In a free market, sellers and buyers negotiate prices to match supply to demand. If a price is too high, surpluses result, and since producers don’t want product sitting idle, they lower prices to clear their inventory. If a price is too low, shortages result, signaling producers to raise prices until supply and demand match.
The natural interest rate is the price of borrowing savings. It matches the supply of savings to the demand of people wanting to borrow saved money for projects like expanding production. If an entrepreneur wants to start or expand a business, he must first save his money to do so or borrow someone else’s saved money. Savings is the fuel that powers economic growth, and entrepreneurs are the engines of economic growth.
Enter the Fed. Some people think the Fed is a capitalist institution. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Fed was created by Congress, and its board is dominated by presidential appointees. Our banking system is thoroughly fascist, controlled by government.
The function of central banks is to pervert interest rates to benefit our rulers. They do this by printing money, which pushes down interest rates. Artificially low interest rates, like all price controls, cause shortages, in this case a shortage of savings. Borrowing exceeds savings, creating the unprecedented debt and anemic savings that threaten civilization today.
ZIRP means the big banks can borrow money at zero interest then turn around and loan it at higher interest rates, making a killing while the rest of us drown in debt. They use the free money to buy government bonds to satisfy their government masters and enable runaway government spending.
But, surprise, surprise, this outrageous counterfeiting scheme hasn’t improved our economy. It’s made our economy worse. A crash much bigger than in 2008 has already started, and the bankers know it. They’re panicking. The Japanese central bank first implemented NIRP, and the European Central Bank quickly followed. NIRP means the central banks are charging savers, eating up their savings, trying to pressure them to spend their money instead of saving it. Yellon is preparing to do same here.
But the bankers have a problem: saving makes people richer while spending makes them poorer, so savers are hoarding - another word for saving - cash instead of spending. Rulers are demonizing savers and waging war on cash in response. The Wall Street Journal informs, “Are Japan and Switzerland havens for terrorists and drug lords? High-denomination bills are in high demand in both places, a trend that some politicians claim is a sign of nefarious behavior. Yet the two countries boast some of the lowest crime rates in the world. The cash hoarders are ordinary citizens responding rationally to monetary policy.
To combat this, the ECB just banned €500 notes. Former Clinton Treasury Secretary Larry Summers called to ban bills over $50. Even Monopoly has gone cashless as part of the propaganda campaign.
But this attack on cash and interest rates undermines the function of interest rates. Interest rates provide the incentive for people to invest. The goal of investing is to produce greater wealth in the future than what you have at present.
ZIRP was bad enough. Nobody invested in the future to obtain zero return. That wouldn’t be rational. That’s why real economic growth halted and all we experienced was price inflation for the last eight years.
NIRP is worse. Nobody in their right mind would invest to obtain less in the future than he had in the present. NIRP will worsen the impending crash as people hoard cash, gold and silver to protect themselves. Home safes recently sold out in Japan.
Charles Hughes Smith explains why NIRP will backfire on bankers. “If banks start charging savers interest on their cash, savers will have to save even more income to offset the additional costs imposed by central banks on their savings,” he wrote.
Smith also explains the real motive behind NIRP. “What exactly are we saving by destroying savings and capital? Isn't capital the foundation of capitalism? The answer is we are saving nothing but a rotten-to-the-core, parasitic, predatory banking system, coddled and enabled by corrupt central banks and states.
NIRP and banning cash are the final steps to universal, modern serfdom.

Self-serving leftists point to Sweden and Norway as examples where socialism supposedly works while conveniently ignoring places like Cuba and Venezuela where it obviously doesn’t. This is a false argument. Socialism doesn’t work in Sweden or Norway. Sweden and Norway are fascist welfare states much like the modern US. They’re wealthy because of capital accumulation in the past when their economies were more free and because fascism allows the price and profit mechanisms, although warped, to work. Also like in the US, the more the government taxes, regulates, and centrally plans the economies of Sweden and Norway, the worse those economies become.
Venezuelans endure a purer form of socialism. Ludwig von Mises explained, “A man who chooses between drinking a glass of milk and a glass of a solution of potassium cyanide does not choose between two beverages; he chooses between life and death. A society that chooses between capitalism and socialism does not choose between two social systems; it chooses between social cooperation and the disintegration of society. Socialism is not an alternative to capitalism; it is an alternative to any system under which men can live as human beings.”
Venezuelans are experiencing the socialist disintegration of society right now. The Washington Post reports, “The fight for food has begun in Venezuela. On any day, in cities across this increasingly desperate nation, crowds form to sack supermarkets. Protesters take to the streets to decry the skyrocketing prices and dwindling supplies of basic goods. The wealthy improvise, some shopping online for food that arrives from Miami. Middle-class families make do with less: coffee without milk, sardines instead of beef, two daily meals instead of three. The poor are stripping mangoes off the trees and struggling to survive.
“‘This is savagery,’ said Pedro Zaraza, a car-oil salesman who watched a mob mass on Friday outside a supermarket, where it was eventually dispersed by the army. ‘The authorities are losing their grip.’”
Socialism is barbarism, producing starvation and savagery for the masses, but that’s not the whole story. Income inequality is bad in fascist economies, but it’s worse in purer socialist economies like Venezuela. Historian Thomas DiLorenzo explains, “A defining characteristic of socialism in all its forms in all places and at all times is a relatively small political elite (and its ‘private sector’ cronies) that lives lavishly by plundering its population, destroying its economy, imposing a regime of equality of poverty and misery; and turning almost everyone into a dependent on the state for survival. Joseph Stalin was the wealthiest man in the world during his time, not the Rockefellers, Morgans, or anyone else, as the de facto ‘owner’ of the entire Soviet Union. African and Latin American socialist political thugs in the ‘post-colonial era’ have long been notorious for becoming millionaires or billionaires, with Swiss bank accounts galore, while their people starved and begged them for subsistence. Socialism’s one percenters make today’s Wall Street plutocrats seem impoverished by comparison.”
The Daily Mail highlights how socialist rulers behave. “'Why shouldn't we enjoy ourselves just because the country is burning?' Super-rich Socialists quaff champagne in Venezuela country club while middle class mothers scavenge for scraps in the gutter... and even the DOGS are starving,” it headlined.
The article continued, “Venezuela's super-rich are enjoying lavish parties and gourmet cuisine, while middle-class people are forced to scavenge for food as the Socialist country's economy collapses.
“In the opulent Caracas Country Club, where membership costs an astonishing £77,000 – 458 times the average Venezuelan salary – glamorous women in cocktail dresses were seen relishing a banquet of beef and lobster, followed by a colourful selection of puddings.
“Meanwhile, in the Petare slum a few miles away, home to 370,000 Venezuelans, ordinary middle-class people were rummaging in stinking piles of rubbish for rotten cabbage leaves, desiccated limes and scraps of fetid meat.”
We can’t afford to ignore the consequences of socialism in Venezuela because leftists are advancing socialism in America today, and they’re backed by mainstream economists funded by our tax dollars. Tho Bishop notes, “While it is not surprising to see [socialist] policies supported by Marxist politicians, what is deeply troubling is the amount of support the Venezuelan model has received from prominent economists over the years. During a visit in 2007, Joseph Stiglitz, who received the 2001 Nobel Prize in economics, praised what he called ‘positive policies’ of the Chavez administration.”
The New York Times calls Stiglitz an “influential advisor to Hillary Clinton.”
Socialism can never work anywhere.

Victory for the Forgotten Man
Britons vote to exit European Union
Conspiracy Theorist

One of the laws of economics can be stated as “If something is unsustainable, it will end.” That’s true of the political economy as well as the productive economy.
Since the beginning of the progressive, 20th century, western progressive rulers have relentlessly amassed power into central governments and their few hands. The most obvious example was the creation of the European Union (EU) which was 70 years in the making. A product of bankers and their CIA agents designed to complement NATO, the EU forces uniform regulations onto culturally distinct European people.
Amassing coercive power into the hands of a few always concentrates wealth into the hands of a few, creating massive income inequality and a two-tiered society. Giant welfare states are built on the backs of the forgotten man who is looted by rulers to pay for their opulence.
The defining characteristic of the forgotten man is he works hard for a living. He has no time to organize political resistance or go into the streets to protest the ever increasing burden placed on him. He doesn’t even have time to break the brainwashing government schools perform on his children.
That gives rulers and their useful idiot allies political advantage which grows over time.
Until June 23, 2016. That’s the day the forgotten man in the United Kingdom (UK), who I’ll call Britons, voted to exit the EU, called Brexit, breaking the trend of ever increasing power and wealth for rulers at the expense of the people.
Rulers were shocked. After months of threats against Britons if they voted to leave, politicians, their accomplices in the media, the polls, the prediction markets, and the stock markets all predicted the UK would remain in the EU. Rulers were so sure of the outcome, they didn’t make arrangements to steal the election if they lost, so they’re stuck with the result. From the top of the human pyramid, rulers can’t see the serfs whose backs they’re breaking. To rulers, the forgotten man is not only forgotten, he’s invisible.
But even change for the better is painful at first. Rulers will punish those uppity Britons who rejected them, not only to teach a lesson to other countries which might consider leaving, but out of spite.
The UK’s Express reports, “France, the Netherlands, Austria, Finland and Hungary could leave.
Front National leader Marine Le Pen has pledged to hold a French referendum if she emerges victorious in next year's presidential elections. While for the past two months a Nexit has been on the cards after Dutch voters overwhelmingly rejected a Ukraine-European Union treaty. ... Angela Merkel's country [Germany] faces having to pay an extra £2.44billion a year to the annual EU budget once Britain has left.”
The Guardian highlights the spite. “A senior EU leader has confirmed the bloc wants Britain out as soon as possible, warning that David Cameron’s decision to delay the start of Brexit negotiations until his successor is in place may not be fast enough,” it wrote. Another ruler declared the EU will stop speaking English.
The EU is on the verge of disintegrating unless something drastic, like NATO starting a war with Russia, scares Europeans into staying.
This is the biggest and best political upheaval since the fall of the Soviet Union, and it’s just the start. People around the world have been itching to cast off distant rulers, but have been unable to do so. Quebec, Scotland, Venice and Catalonia all failed to secede, but they’ll try again with renewed vigor.
It’s ironic that Americans, whose Founding Fathers executed the first major succession in history, now watch passively as Britons lead the way. But not all Americans watch passively. Support for Texas independence surged after Brexit.
President Obama bears some responsibility for Brexit. After he threatened Britons if they left, support for Brexit surged. Clinton rode his coattails, and both were trampled in history’s dust. Only Trump was smart enough to support Brexit and be on the right side of history.
Highlighting another difference between British and US rulers, British Prime Minister David Cameron, champion of remaining in the EU, immediately announced his resignation after the vote while, from inside his narcissistic bubble, Obama denied any responsibility.
Short-term pain will give way to long-term gain as Britons cast off the burden of EU taxes and regulations. The same for all people who follow the UK’s lead. States rights and succession reduce the burden of government and benefit all forgotten men.

War for the Dollar
WWIII has already started

Pat Buchanan is confused by US foreign aggression. “And America is beginning to buckle under the weight of its global obligations,” he wrote. “And as we have no claim to rocks or reefs in the South China Sea – Vietnam, Taiwan, Malaysia, Brunei and the Philippines do – why is this our quarrel?”
The dollar is the vital interest, and the status of the dollar is the real reason for all recent US wars. The dollar is the world’s reserve currency. That means all international trade can be settled in dollars. If a South African imports a product from Malaysia, he doesn’t have to acquire Malaysian currency first. He can pay with US dollars. In order to facilitate trade, every country in the world keeps a huge stash of dollars in reserve. Thus the term world’s reserve currency. The dollar, which used to be considered as good as gold, replaced gold in that role.
This system has tremendous benefits for Americans. The Federal Reserve (Fed) can print money like crazy, and most of it ends up in foreign treasuries and central banks. This mitigates the rapid price inflation that would normally result. This allows Americans to buy foreign goods without paying full price. Foreign countries, by accumulating devalued dollars, pay part of the price. This enables Americans to live beyond their means.
But this system cannot last. It’s doomed by its very nature. Because the Fed prints money like crazy, the dollar is nowhere near as good as gold, and foreign governments know it. Over time, they will divest themselves of dollars, and those dollars will come back to America, creating inflation. It’s not a question of if, but when.
Oil is the most traded commodity in the world and is sold in dollars. The reason the US remains allies with the Saudis is the Saudis long ago agreed to sell all their oil in dollars in return for US protection. Saudi oil is the foundation of the oil-dollar linkage, called the petro-dollar, and is necessary for the dollar to remain the world’s reserve currency. That’s why Saudi interests often drive US foreign policy.
Saddam Hussein, Muammar Qaddafi and Bashar Assad tried to sever the oil-dollar link, selling oil using other currencies. The US invaded, toppled, and killed the first two, and it’s doing the same to Assad in Syria. The Saudi’s ancient enemies in Iran have done so as well. That’s why the US has surrounded Iran and constantly threatens to attack.
After oil and arms, illegal drugs are the third most traded commodity in the world, and they’re also traded in dollars. That’s where the term narco-dollar comes from. Before the Taliban took over Afghanistan, Afghanistan's opium trade was a major prop for the dollar. The Taliban wiped out the opium trade, threatening the dollar’s status. That’s why instead of just wiping out the few hundred al Qaeda fighters after 9/11, the US invaded, toppled the Taliban, and reinstated Afghanistan’s opium trade, which is now at record highs. The War on Drugs is about raising the price, not eradicating drugs. Protecting the narco-dollar is the reason for the heroin epidemic in the US and elsewhere.
Former Assistant Treasury Secretary Paul Craig Roberts explains US aggression against China and Russia is also about protecting the dollar. “The Third World War is currently being fought. How long before it moves into its hot stage?” he asks. “Washington is currently conducting economic and propaganda warfare against four members of the five block group of countries known as BRICS—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Brazil and South Africa are being destabilized with fabricated political scandals. Both countries are rife with Washington-financed politicians and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). Washington concocts a scandal, sends its political agents into action demanding action against the government and its NGOs into the streets in protests.”
China is amassing gold in preparation for taking its currency international. Russia and Brazil are rich in oil. Russia exports oil to Europe through Ukraine and is building a new pipeline through Syria, sites of covert US wars. China and India represent 2.5 billion people. A landlocked Chinese, Russian, Indian, and European trading consortium couldn’t be controlled by the US. A successful BRICS trading block using China’s renminbi currency would spell the end of dollar hegemony, so the US is trying to destroy it before it can succeed.
Seemingly unrelated US aggressions are designed to protect the dollar system a little longer before it blows up on us all.

The Stupidest War
It’s in Syria
Conspiracy Theorist
by Mark Luedtke
publication date: 042616

At least so far, the Syrian war has to be our rulers’ stupidest war ever. Several recent reports highlight nobody knows who’s on whose side.
Aranews.net reports, “Local activists confirmed that a number of Islamist factions, backed by Turkish artillery shelling, were able to deter an SDF-led offensive on their positions and seize control of areas fell to the latter earlier on Tuesday.
“The SDF forces include the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), Arab and Christian fighters –mainly supported by the United States in the war on radical Islamists.”
So US-backed forces were defeated by Turkish-backed forces, but Turkey is a NATO ally. I use the word ally loosely. NATO is a giant welfare program that steals money from US taxpayers and funnels it to rich European countries and Turkey. Like all welfare programs, NATO is about control. US rulers control the welfare and therefore control the rulers of countries who receive it. As always, US rulers win, making themselves richer in the process, and everybody else loses, making taxpayers poorer.
But the stupidity in Syria isn’t limited to the US fighting its nominal allies. The Los Angeles Times recently admitted, “Syrian militias armed by different parts of the U.S. war machine have begun to fight each other on the plains between the besieged city of Aleppo and the Turkish border, highlighting how little control U.S. intelligence officers and military planners have over the groups they have financed and trained in the bitter five-year-old civil war.
“The fighting has intensified over the last two months, as CIA-armed units and Pentagon-armed ones have repeatedly shot at each other while maneuvering through contested territory on the northern outskirts of Aleppo, U.S. officials and rebel leaders have confirmed.”
As always, US rulers are funding all sides of a war with money stolen from taxpayers for the benefit of themselves and their war-profiteer cronies. They get richer, we get poorer, and the risk of terrorist attacks increases.
It would be outrageous enough if the stupidity ended there, but it doesn’t.Famed war correspondent Eric Margolis exposed the myth of the ISIS juggernaut. “The notion that a rabble of 20-something ISIS kids can stand up to highly trained, heavily armed western troops and their native auxiliaries is absurd,” he wrote. “ISIS is what the Ottomans used to call, ‘bashi-bazooks,’ armed street thugs used for looting and attacking civilians.”
Margolis stresses the fighters’ lack of training, supplies and arms and blames the incompetence of Iraqi defenders, who have been continually trained and led by US forces for well over a decade, for ISIS’s success.
Margolis continued, “The small Russian air contingent in Syria has proven far more effective than the US and its allies. The mighty US Air Force has continued pinprick attacks on ISIS positions in what has become a pantomime war. It’s almost as if the western powers are playing make-believe in Syria.”
That’s exactly what they’re doing. The real target of US forces and their surrogates in Syria is Syrian President Assad who is being protected by that small, effective contingent of Russians. ISIS is an ally, term not used loosely, in that fight.
So stupid is US policy in Syria that Seymour Hersh claims Pentagon and US intelligence agents shared intelligence with Russia and Syria through allies to undermine Obama's support for ISIS against Assad.
"The military’s resistance dates back to the summer of 2013, when a highly classified assessment, put together by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, then led by General Martin Dempsey, forecast that the fall of the Assad regime would lead to chaos and, potentially, to Syria’s takeover by jihadi extremists, much as was then happening in Libya.
Blogger Bionic Mosquito makes a crucial point. "After a Russian commercial airliner was downed over Egypt’s Sinai last October, Western media reported that the Islamic State bombing was retaliation against Russian airstrikes in Syria,.” he wrote. “The killing of 224 people, mostly Russian tourists on holiday, was matter-of-factly treated as an act of war by a fanatical group without an air force resorting to terrorism as a way to strike back.
“Yet, Western militaries have killed infinitely more innocent civilians in the Middle East than Russia has. Then why won’t Western officials and media cite retaliation for that Western violence as a cause of terrorist attacks on New York, Paris, and Brussels?”
Because rulers and their war-profiteering cronies wouldn’t profit. That’s why the next US war will be even stupider.
